Maintenance Technician
Perimeter Healthcare of West Memphis is looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our hospital facilities, equipment, and grounds operating safely and efficiently. In this role, you’ll support routine and preventive maintenance across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems while helping ensure a safe, functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys solving problems, working with tools, and supporting the day-to-day operation of a healthcare facility.
What You’ll Do
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment such as fans, pumps, motors, generators, and related machinery.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hospital building systems using diagrams, manuals, sketches, and manufacturer specifications within your training and certification scope.
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and testing instruments safely and effectively.
- Support plumbing work including inspection, installation, repair, and replacement of pipes, fittings, and fixtures tied to heating, water, gas, and drainage systems.
- Assist with HVAC and refrigeration maintenance, including equipment used for air conditioning, cooling water, food preservation, and ice production.
- Repair, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances that support lighting and building operations within your certification scope.
- Construct, repair, and maintain wooden structures and hospital fixtures including furniture, partitions, and equipment.
- Operate machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to fabricate or repair parts.
- Transport hospital materials and equipment as needed, including supplies, furniture, fixtures, and building materials.
- Help maintain hospital grounds and assist with additional departmental needs as assigned by leadership, including support duties during emergency response and environmental services coverage when needed.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; shop or trade coursework preferred.
- Mechanical background preferred, including familiarity with trade terminology and general maintenance practices.
- Ability to perform numerical calculations related to equipment installation and repair.
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications and visualize installation requirements.
- Strong manual dexterity, motor coordination, and comfort handling tools and equipment parts.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving ability when making repair and maintenance decisions.
- Normal or corrected hearing and vision.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent walking, reaching, and bending.
- Ability to climb ladders and work safely in a variety of facility environments.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull moderate to heavy loads, including a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Good grasping ability and fine hand coordination.
- Ability to work safely around cleaning agents, maintenance chemicals, and related materials.
