What You'll Do
As a Mental Health Technician, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for our patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Build positive, supportive relationships with children and adolescents receiving behavioral health treatment.
- Provide continuous supervision and ensure patient safety throughout the shift.
- Conduct scheduled patient observation rounds and accurately document behaviors.
- Assist patients with daily living activities and encourage independence.
- Teach, model, and reinforce positive coping skills, communication, and appropriate social behaviors.
- Escort patients to meals, therapy sessions, recreation, and other activities.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and therapeutic treatment environment.
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other members of the treatment team.
- Participate in crisis intervention and therapeutic de-escalation when necessary.
- Safely perform physical interventions or restraints when required (paid training provided).
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, lift, push, and pull as required to safely assist patients and perform crisis interventions
- Strong communication skills and a passion for helping others
Preferred
- One (1) year of experience in a behavioral health, psychiatric, residential treatment, hospital, assisted living, or healthcare setting
- Military Corpsman experience
- Education or work experience in Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Education, or related fields
